Freezing Motion

Water/rain
Freezing motion can be shown in many ways through photography, essentially it can be anything that moves and can create some sort of motion. Although you can simply just freeze a motion, i like to think that you will be able to show something that you may not necessarily see with the human eye but the camera can capture it. This would then create an abstract looking photograph which would stand out from any other freezing motion photograph. When thinking about freezing motion, it can be seen as stopping time and taking in what has just happen and what is going to happen. Freezing motion can be shown through someone jumping in the air, someone dancing or someone flicking their hair. Also when looking at freezing motion there are many ways in which photographers are able to make the photograph look they just posing in a position opposed to actually being captures in the middle of a motion. Also in high speed photography sometimes needs a fast shutter speed to be set on the camera as the action may happen to quickly to be captured with a average shutter speed.

Here is a list of some of the ideas which i have for the theme of 'Freezing Motion'

  • Jumping
  • Sport- Football, Rugby, Swimming, running
  • Dance
  • Water
  • Bubbles
  • Balloons
  • Materials
