Photographer No.5 - Marc Laroche

I have picked Marc Laroche as one of my chosen photograph as i like the way in which he is able to photograph hair in a way which is unique and different to everyday hair styles. Although these photograph may have been taken while the model was moving her hair, due to the precision this is not so apparent therefore it almost looks natural.

 In Marc Laroche's first photograph you can see the model in the centre of the composition however there is a large space at the top. The model looks to have jumped and the movement of her hair has been captured. Her hair has created a shape around her face which compliments her facial features such as her cheek bones. By her having a middle parting in her hair, this allows  some soft of precisiton to the photograph rather than it being a messy hair photograph. As you can see the photograph is in black and white which gives a natural feel to the photograph and makes it look more like fashion photograph opposed to any other type of photography






In Marc Laroche's second photograph you can see a model in the centre of the composition and her hair has been blown forward to create a vertical line. Due to the precision of the photograph it makes it look like her hair is naturally like this and that it has not be posed at all. Also her body is straight and it doesn't appear to have been moved therefore this again add to the fact that it look imposed and natural. Again the black and white effect on the photograph gives the photograph a fashion photography look.

In Marc Laroche third photograph you can see that the models hair is spread out across the top half of the composition. Her hair is able to create a   mohawk shape which looks natural rather than posed.  The hair appears to become lighter as it gets nearer to the model face. This allows us to see her face as her hair isn't creating any harsh shadows on her face. Her hair looks so dark at the back that it almost blends in with the back background which could be seen as a negative within this photograph.

In Marc Laroche forth photograph you can see the models hair being blown to one corner of the composition. This photograph can be described as more messy looking compared to his other photographs which are defined and posed. This is further shown through her having curly hair which looks more messy than straight hair.Her face and her hair follow the same direction to show the movement of the model herself as well as the movement of her hair.








Influence
I was influenced by Marc Laroche photographs as I wanted to try and photograph someone flicking their hair and to capture it when it in the air so that it look unique and almost strange. I was also influenced by this photograph as he made me want to look at making some of my photographs black and white as i like the way in which model is the main focus rather than the colour.

Summary
Overall I like Marc Laroche as he is able to make photograph which you would assume would look messy to look defined and posed. Also I like the way that Marc Laroche makes all of his photographs black and white to give them a fashion look.

Photographer No.4 - Von Wong

I have chosen this photographer as  i like the way he captures different motions and merges them together to show the gradual movement of the model. I see this as a alternative way of showing freezing motion compared other freezing motion artists. I also like the way in which the main motions are in focus and the movement in between are blurred but still visible enough to see how the model progressed from one move to another.

 In Von Wong's first photograph we can see the gradual movements of a couple dancing. There are two position which are in focus and standout form the rest of the photograph however in between these, there are blurred figures which represent the progression from one movement to the other. The fact that they have been captured in the middle of dancing, this is able to represent freezing motion in an alternative way.

 In Von Wongs's second photograph we can see a man who appears to be floating in the air. The colours of nature can be seen throughout the photograph which makes the levitating seen real and natural. He body looks to be laying down which makes the photograph have a sense of relaxation. The branch, which can be seen above the model, looks to shape around the models body as if he is part of nature.













In Von Wong's third photograph you can see male and female model. Taking up the majority of the composition  is their bodies however around there blurred section which are able to represent the models body movement and gives more depth to the photograph. Natural tones have been used which link to the fact that they are wearing not clothes which gives a sense of purity to the photograph.

In Von Wong's forth photograph you can see to female models who have been captured in the middle of them dancing. Nude tones have been used against a black background which gives the photograph a sense of purity. The mist which can be seen in the photograph shapes around the models body and compliments the movement in which they are making.




Influence
I was influenced by Von Wong's work as it made look at alternative ways of showing freezing motion for example merging different motion together to show the progression of the full movement. I also influenced in a way in which I would like to experiment with colours which match the subject of the photograph and will be able to portray a specific emotion
Summary
Overall i like Von Wong's work as he is showing various motion to look effortless and not necessarily frozen in time.

Photographer No.3 - Adam Pretty

I have decided to have Adam Pretty as one of my chosen photographers due to the diversity of his photographs for example he photographs for advertising purposes, massive sporting events and  also portraits. I also like the way Adam Pretty edits some photographs to contain several motions in one frame.
                                                         

In Adam Pretty's first photograph you can see that two images have been placed within the composition. The white background helps to create a sharp outline around the body of the diver.By making the model to be in black and white it helps with the contrast with the white background.The shapes made by the model body fit together like a puzzle which creates balance within the photograph.

In Adam Pretty's second photograph we can see that this has been taken for an advertising purpose which is to promote Adidas. This is obvious due to the Adidas logo being placed onto the photograph. The model can be seen to be playing tennis and had been capture as he is just about to hit the tennis ball. The model facial expression shows determination and skill in what he is about to do. The foreground it where you would expect to play tennis which helps with the promotional side of the photograph. By adding text this gives meaning to the photograph and is a persuasive element.

 Adam Pretty's third photograph is a portrait of a chinese athlete. Dull greens and black can be seen throughout the photograph. This contrast the redness of his costume which standout from the the rest of the photograph. The wall looks to be damaged which is not what you would expect the conditions would be like for a professional athlete. This may be showing a different side to the life a athlete compared to what would be expected. The models hold a neutral expression which means that the audience is unable to get a sense of his emotions and feelings at this point in time.

In Adam Pretty's forth photograph you can see a person swimming. Their body is stretched out across the composition. Deep blues have been used which imply that she is deep under the sea. The colours also add a sense of mystery to the photograph as we do not know where she is going.





Influence
I was influence by Adam Pretty's work as i wanted to try and photograph sport in terms of freezing motion. I would also like to consider how they could be used for a advertising purpose as this is a major way of getting into the photography business

Summary
I like Adam Pretty's photograph because he shows thing which we wouldn't expect in terms of sport and professional athletes.

Photographer No.2- Mike Campau

 I have picked Mike Campau as one of my chosen photographers because of the way he edits his photographs to add patterns which shape around the models body. I also liked the way in which all of his photographer contain the same tome of colour even including the costume and the back drop.

The composition of Mike Campau first photograph is the model placed in the centre who had jumped in the air and has been captured in the middle of the motion. Large ribbon looking shapes have been edited on to the photograph which shape around the models body. This gives the photograph a sense of weightlessness and elegance. Lastly a purple tone is kept throughout the photograph which gives a warming to the photograph.


The composition of Mike Campau second photograph is again that the model is placed in the centre who has jumped in the air and has created a sharp shape with her arms and legs.Again the same editing technique is used in this photograph as the first. A range of greens have been used throughout the photograph which gives it a feel of nature.








The composition of Mike Campau third photograph is that a women looks to have jumped elegantly into the air which is creating a sophisticated motion which has been frozen in its essence. The same editing technique is used in this photograph as the others however this one appear to be much looser therefore adding to the sense of weightlessness within this photograph. 






The composition of Mike Campau forth photograph is a women jumping in the air and a spiral shape has been shaped around her body during this motion. The spiral almost looks like a spring and could represent her jumping off the group like a spring would. A blue and green tone can be seen throughout the photograph such as with the costume, background and the editing.





Influence
I have been influenced by Mike Campau as i would now like to consider not only photographing object and that it would be fun and interesting to photograph the freezing motion of humans.I also would like to experiment with different  colour tones to see which benefits the photograph the most.

Summary
Overall i like Mike Campau photographs as i feel that the colour tones used in each photograph help portray the elegance or sharpness of the motion as well as the editing technique which shapes around the models body.

Photographer No.1: Shinichi Maruyama

Shinichi Maruyama

I have chosen this photographer as i liked the way in which is showed elements such as water in different way and making them appear to be pure and beautiful and can create something that has never been seen before. With her 'Nude' shoot i like the way that they are capturing the beauty and the motion that come with it.

 This first photograph is from Shinichi Maruyama 'Water sculpture' shoot. By throwing the water in the air, we can establish that it is continuously changing shape in the air to create individual water sculptures which can be seen as part man-made and part natural.  The fact that it is continuously changing shape shows how fragile and incomplete water is and how beautiful it can look when captures at the exact moment of it essence.

This photograph is from Shinichi Maruyama 'Gardens' shoot. She has achieved these photographs by throwing paint across the composition. They have tried to represented the feeling they get from Zen gardens in their artwork. When looking at this specific series of photograph i noticed that every time the paint was throw, a different shape was formed each time to create a individual photograph which is different from any other. 



This photograph is from Shinichi Maruyama 'Nude' shoot which is showing the beauty of the human body and all the motions that come with it. The figure in the image, which is formed into something similar to a sculpture, is created by combining 10,000 individual photographs of a dancer.By putting together uninterrupted individual moments, the resulting image as a whole appears to be something  different from what it really is. The fact that it is called 'Nude' this related directly to the nude shades which is seen throughout whole photograph.









This photograph is from Shinichi Maruyama 'Kusho' shoot which is achieved by mixing water and black ink together and throwing it to capture it in mid motion. Shinichi Maruyama was inspired to use ink as she remembers as a child she loved the thought of having a blank piece of paper just moments before the brush hits it. Shinichi Maruyama was always excited to see a unique outcome from the brushing.





Influence
Shinichi Maruyama influenced me in a way in which i would like try and do a water shoot and create unique shapes and photographs with each shot. I also would like to try the motions of the human body by photographing load of individual motions and then combining them to show the whole motion of the human body.

Summary
Overall i like Shinichi Maruyama work as i fell like every photograph is unique and individual and new shapes are being formed with each time. The level of creative that can be made with this photographs is one of the reason why i like Shinichi Maruyama work.
